The Tablo Update & Giveaway

Cord cutting featured prominently at CES this month, including a pair of announcements by our pals at Tablo.

Later this year, they’ll offer an Android TV app that provides local television playback with DVR capabilities. Even more interesting is the upcoming Tablo Live dongle ($99) that connects to an antenna and beams your favorite programming around the home to Roku, Xbox, iPad, etc. Even better? They’re working on a cloud storage companion.

Beyond these new goodies, the company continues to enhance the compelling Tablo OTA DVR that comes in 2- and 4-tuner models. Connect an antenna and a hard drive to watch both live and recorded content from a variety of clients within the home… or beyond. And, lucky you, here’s your opportunity to win my 2-tuner evaluation model with three months of service thrown in.

To participate in the giveaway, simply complete any or all of the tasks to below before January 20th. Each item represents an additional entry. US residents only please as service isn’t international… and neither is my shipping budget. Good luck!

  1. For reference, Tablo is an occasional and valued site sponsor (as you can see from the banner ad in the upper right). However, this is not a sponsored post. I approached them about sharing my eval unit with a lucky reader. They obviously agreed (and are managing the little contest widget).

  2. This is a item as a Antenna user am very interested in as the continued increase in fee’s with out any improvements is unaffordable for many that have cut the Cord or want to..

  3. I’ve had Tablo for more than a year as part of my cable cutting. I can access it either from my web browser or through my Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, or TV remote app. A great little system and an external 2t hard drive handles all the shows I want to record and keep.

Get the same reception as I would with Direct TV and because it seems to use uncompressed data it gives great pictures upscaled on my 4k TV.

    Apple TV?

  5. ive cut the cord for almost a year. Directv was getting pricey. I have an over the air dvr that i use to record 1 show at a time, but the standard EPG only give me like 3-4 days of show info. I sure could use this.

  6. Scott, Tablo does have an Apple TV app for the DVR. We’ll see which clients will work at launch and beyond for Live — not sure if the existing apps will serve double duty, if something new is required, different platforms, etc.
