Deal of the Day: Refurb TiVo HD @ $185

If you’re in the market for a TiVo HD (MSRP $300), I doubt you’ll find a better deal than this any time soon: $185 shipped via Woot. Keep in mind it’s a refurbished returned unit… However, for several years, my primary (problem-free) TiVo was a Humax DVD-burning refurb. In addition to the hardware savings, TiVo’s offering 3 free months of service by activating with code 3FREEHD.

  1. I bought one. I have a S3 unit that I love and have been waiting for an excuse to get a TiVo HD so that I can transfer HD content to my bedroom. I guess now I will have to get a HD TV for the bedroom also.
Oh and I just checked, the lifetime service for $399 is still available for existing subscribers.

  2. My Humax arrived in pristine condition, but without originally packaging. I think the centers that do this stuff try to recycle only the very best products. I had a refurb iPod once, too. That thing was very carefully cleaned – not a single fingerprint. Though, I did end up with a scuffed refurb networking accessory a few months ago – works fine, but cosmetically blemished.

  3. Jon, I bought a refurb Zune 30 from woot and have no problems with it at all, it even came in original packing. I did get a refurb ‘night light’ S2 from TiVo a while ago, I never had a problem with it, it since has been given to my sister as a gift.

  4. picked one up as well.

    @ questions…

    1. Heard the 3 free months doesnt apply to people getting a Multi Unit Discount (like me)

    2. Will these support a multi stream cable card? Or just 2 normal cable cards?

  5. Not sure on question 1, but I do know the TiVo HD does dual tune with one M-Card. (We have one in the bedroom.)

Don’t forget we still have a few months left to abuse TiVo Rewards, so please remember davezatz@yahoo.com sent you. ;)

  6. you’ll be seeing some points coming your way…if reference to the other post i made my first monoprice purchase for some hdmi goodness

  7. anyone know how to get the 9.1 software upgrade. I need the multi room viewing until i get my cable card set up.
