CES: It’s a Wrap!

I’m going to do a bit of Memento trickeration here and continue to cover CES – out of order and after the fact.

As with most folks, I didn’t encounter anything truly revolutionary… though it’s not always immediately apparent at CES what may be a game-changer, with thousands of companies competing for attention. Having said that, I did see (and present) some exciting (and some befuddling) new technologies and advancing trends. I’ll spotlight a few of them over the next few days.

As with most trade shows, the most stimulating aspect for me was connecting with my peeps. I couldn’t even begin to list all the people I enjoyed interacting with it… However, I was pleasantly surprised to run into Kevin Tofel and James Kendrick (jkOnTheRun) on three seperate occasions and Peter Rojas (Engadget, RCRD LBL) twice – especially nice, as I didn’t realize he was attending. Mari and I even managed to connect a couple of times.

On the work side, I just can’t tell you how impressed I am with Team Sling. Our booth, products, and personnel were amazing. Plus Blake may have been the only CEO still in Vegas Thursday night continuing to support his troops. (Also, probably the only CEO who brought along a PS3 and Rock Band.) I’d follow these guys into battle any day.

  1. As I catch up on sleep, I’m going to keep a running list of some the people that I enjoyed chatting with (that wasn’t purely work-related) – some for the first time in person. :)

Evan Blass of Engadget, TiVo Shanan, Megazone of TiVo Lovers, Rakesh Agrawal of Snapstream, Jason Unger of CE Pro, Ben Drawbaugh of EngadgetHD, Eric Bangeman of Ars Technica, Shawn Morton of TechRepublic, Randall Bennett of CNET, the Sling Community team, Jeremy Toeman of Bug Labs, Jim Courtney of Skype Journal, Ain McKendrick of Zing, PJ Jacobowitz of PC Mag, Ross Rubin of NPD, Team Gear Live, Mike K of Hacking Netflix, Ryan Block and Veronica Belmont of Engadget and Mahalo, Kyle Copeland of Audio Faucet, Jeremy Wright of B5 Media, Doug and Adam Berger of Gadgetell, Lou Jacob of DVRUpgrade, Michael Adberg of Weaknees

And here’s a list of film crews I remember speaking with: Shop NBC, Fox LA, NBC Phoenix, The Score Canada, DL.TV/PC Mag

  2. Love the PC Mag video review Mr. Satz. ;) Seriously, you showed the product well. Thanks for the booth tour also; looks like 2008 will be an exciting year for SlingBox owners! :)

  3. Nah, you don’t need the Nutrisystem. You clean up ok. Now chop chop and get out those new products we all want.
