George Lucas confirmed he is working on a live-action television series spinoff of the Star Wars Movie Franchise. It won’t include any of the major characters from the movies – no Luke Skywalker and no Darth Vader. From the interview with Lucas:
“The Skywalkers aren’t in it, and it’s about minor characters,” Lucas said in an interview. “It has nothing to do with Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader or any of those people. It’s completely different. But it’s a good idea, and it’s going to be a lot of fun to do.”

This makes me very sad.
After seeing the prequels, I’m not feeling optimistic either. The Star Wars universe is pretty cool though and holds a special place in the hearts of many of us – hopefully they can pull it off. And hopefully George will stay hands off.
But when Brent, but when??
im so sad to hear this.
The Star Wars universe is pretty cool.
i love it very much.
but…
what a pity.
Ben,
Since you asked, I had to do some searching. The best I could find is this wiki (yes there’s already a wiki for the TV show) and it says 2009 is the projected air date (IMDB says the same thing). Since they’re just getting started on the project according to the LA Times article the start date is likely not firm by any means.
