Later today, TiVo’s new mobile site m.tivo.com will launch. This Mobui-designed destination is pretty much handset-agnostic – enabling TiVo subscribers to schedule recordings from a variety of devices. m.tivo.com joins the $2/mo Verizon Java app and forthcoming Blackberry software in rounding out TiVo’s mobile scheduling services.
While I’m still not completely sold on the concept of mobile scheduling, Verizon FiOS TV is taking it to another level later this year with two-way DVR interactivity… Not only can you schedule, you can see what’s already scheduled, set reminders, block channels, and search by voice. At the end of the day, though, I’m more likely to send myself an email reminder from a phone and schedule a recording later from a full-on computer web browser.
I was a little worried that EngadgetHD had beat you to the punch, but in proper form, your article is much better ;)
The info was under a midnight embargo, but since the WAP site (now live) is minor news I waited to hit it until this AM. Had Call of Duty and Monday Night Football to take care of last night…
i agree with dave. its much easier to set the reminder. i can see this being extremely handy when in a pinch. i use the netflix mobile site all the time.
I’m totally sold on mobile scheduling, especially after trying it out on the new TiVo Mobile site. I managed to tell my TiVo to record a baseball game I was walking into, 3,000 miles from home, with the full web site… and this works way better.
Remind yourself to do it later? Great idea — but what if later’s too late? This is perfect.
It doesn’t appear to have my full lineup of channels available…
A few people have also experienced problems searching. Guess that’s why they’re calling it a beta release
This webapp is amazing under Opera Mobile on my touch diamond
