As discovered by AFTVNews, a number of updates have been made to the Alexa-powered Echo Auto product page to recalibrate expectations. Most notable is a list of incompatible Android devices plus what looks to be a delay in navigation capabilities:
Ask for directions and Alexa connects to supported apps like Google Maps. Apple Maps and Waze support will be coming in 2019.
With 2019 only a few weeks away, Echo Auto may not even launch as promised this year (despite shopping cart shenanigans). But it’s not all doom & gloom, as Amazon will expose various location data to skill developers — potentially leading to even more interesting mobile solutions.
