Thanks to TiVo’s recent site refresh, a few interesting items have been surfaced, including an Operator-Branded Web Portal PDF. Of course, we’ve long known TiVo has been prepping this cable company “TV Everywhere” offering and even shot some video of it in action (embedded below) at the Cable Show. And given that particular development site appears to have been redirected to a RCN URL, we can’t help but wonder if launch is imminent. From TiVo’s pitch, the web portal offers:
- What to Watch (recommended shows)
- Search across TV, operator VOD and OTT content – and get integrated results on what you’re looking for
- Schedule and manage recordings and ongoing
- Season Pass recordings on your TiVo DVR even away from home
- Grid Guide with up to 14 days of programming

Why is Tivo not using this for their entire guide/to-do list area on their own website?
It doesn’t look like much more than a prettier version of TCO. Does it have provisions for authenticated live streaming of video or any sort of cloud DVR solution?
I believe I shot the video it Vubiquity’s booth – where they were pitching a VOD service for TiVo…
I like the color coded guide listing. Now hopefully TiVo will update TV guide and iOS app. Blue listing make TiVo’s screens looked dated. Like cable circa 2008.
I just moved to RCN from TWC so the portal would be welcomed. RCN really pushes TiVo. The $99 triple play DVR is a TiVo quad. Not only did I save $20 over TWC but I get a free TiVo in the deal. And faster 50Mbps Net and the TiVo has intergrated VOD which allows on demand viewing.
I’m starting to think TiVo has a future in TV,

WSJ paywall down right now for some reason…
Yeah, I was half ass live tweeting the earnings call. They’ve doing well on the MSO and licensing front, but retail subscribers have dipped below 1 million for the first time since 2004… Perhaps Roamio will turn the tide.

If customer service is treating the average retail customer as badly as they’ve been treating me, (a high margin customer), in the past week, then perhaps retail is washing out to sea…

Assad’s hackers attacked the NYT this afternoon. Murdoch seeks tactical advantage on the back of Assad.
here is a link to the TiVo Press release that has the numbers in it.
Hopefully Suddenlink adds this for their TiVo customers. I like the layout of the pages, although how many of us still use our laptop to view TV? Outside of work I really don’t use the laptop that much.
