We have no religious issue with porting an Apple app to Android. If it made sense for us to do that, we would do that. #

Ah, but that’s burying the lede. The interesting quote is:
Who knows if he’s serious or not, (and I’d guess “not”), but that’s the real point of interest, no?
Yeah, I’d say there were three interesting comments – the two we’ve already mentioned and the one regarding a very grand TV vision (which I’ll believe when I see). I’m hoping the API one alludes to things like widgets. Of course, that won’t make my screen any larger…
“I’m hoping the API one alludes to things like widgets.”
I’m hoping the API he alluded to would allow flexibility in the Insanely Straightjacketed™ design of iOS. Plus, maybe even relaxing the letter and spirit of the AppStoreMonster.
But, hey, when iCloud was about to get rolled out, I was hoping for something more like this. So obviously anything I want from Cupertino likely ain’t coming.

Regarding the “porting an Apple app to Android” issue, the only thing of interest to anyone would be iTunes or AirPlay, and I think it’d be a cold day in hell before either of those arrive. Dunno what Timmeh is on about, other than deflection.
“and the one regarding a very grand TV vision (which I’ll believe when I see).”
Old news.
And given other news from today, it sounds like The Murdoch Empire is still dancing with the competition…
In Timmeh’s defense, his argument to base Apple’s tax code on Maritime Law going forward is kinda witty…

What about iMessage? As I contemplate splitting time between the Galaxy Note 2 and iPhone 5, I’m wondering how to bring my messaging contacts along with me. Hm.

Add iMessage to the list of “cold day in hell” items.
Cupertino would strongly prefer you to solve your particular problem by splitting time between two iPhones. That’d solve the problem, easy peasy. Always remember that lock-in is their core strategy these days. Gotta keep that first-mover advantage going if they want to keep profit margins high.
(Also worth noting how Google just moved away from an open messaging format to proprietary…)
