Tax Day!

Lest we forget, today’s the Ides of April.

I haven’t gotten a refund since selling my condo about three years ago. But if I had some unexpected cash coming my way, I’d probably be thinking about supplementing my Xbox 360 with a Wii or (more likely) a PS3. I might also be a little more motivated to pull the trigger on my first HTPC in years since decommissioning the projector – when we sold that aforementioned condo.

So, did anyone else wait until the last minute to finish up their taxes? If you’re getting (or already received) some money back from Uncle Sam, where’s it going? Paying bills and saving don’t count. We need stimulus! ;)

  1. FYI I never want a refund. I’d rather owe than provide an interest-free loan. ;) I tried to finish my taxes Sunday, but it had to wait until I could call the IRS yesterday. I was only on hold for 31 minutes – given the late date, that seems pretty reasonable. And surely better than the state of Maryland which wasn’t placing callers on hold at all, just playing a recording and hanging up. (Which probably wouldn’t exempt me from paying on time.)

As for those things I mentioned above… I’ll probably purchase them anyway. But I’m still unpacking at the new place and have a backlog of review items to get to first.

  2. i already blew my return on cycling stuff, racing is $$. i am waiting for my stimulus refund though, it will hopefully go towards a blackberry curve on vzw if it ever comes out

  3. Happily one of the benefits of being a Canadian is our tax day isn’t until April 30th! :)

So I have 2 more weeks to procrastinate. When I’m not getting a refund, there is no incentive to get it done early.

  4. Yep – I always wait til last day – sometimes even til midnight to “press the button” to send my taxes. Good news – I get $$$ back… whew!!!

  5. Filed an extension at the last minute. Not sure if that qualifies me for my stimulus refund.

I’m putting in some concrete. Does that count?
