TiVo’s Quarterly Report

I normally count on Thomas Hawk and Davis Freeberg to cover the financials of digital media companies. Since they haven’t chimed in yet, I’ll give you the brief summary: TiVo’s revenue and sales are up, compared to Q2 2005, but they’re still in the red — to the tune of $6.5 million.

The only real news out of the presentation is that the widespread rollout of Comcast’s TiVo (Motorola hardware) is now slated for 2007 — earlier rumors of testing may have been premature or trials were being conducted on a small scale.

  1. The Bellsouth / TiVo deal was supposed to have started about a month ago.

I haven’t heard from any consumers about details. Anyone?

  2. From what I gather it’s just a marketing arrangement. The BellSouth website has some details posted: When you upgrade your FastAccess DSL speed within the promotional period, and are an active residential customer, you can receive a free TiVo DVR box plus three free months of TiVo service, with a minimum one-year commitment to TiVo.

  3. Gee! a DSL-enabled TiVo!

*Compatible USB wireless or wired network adapter [plus Ethernet Cable] required. Sold separately.

[For] Current BellSouth FastAccess DSL customers who upgrade service. An upgrade is defined as any existing FastAccess DSL customer that purchases and receives a higher speed FastAccess service. [That’s $8, 13 or 22 more per month for the 3 higher tiers.]

Available for new TiVo customers with 1 year commitment to TiVo.

TiVo will apply 3 month service credit to credit card no later than 2 weeks after 3rd monthly TiVo service payment.

Shipping fee of up to $16 may apply.

    Offer ends October 31, 2006.

    Probably not a huge seller.
