Interesting factoid: Online movie ticketing service Fandango was responsible for over 16% of Sex in the City opening weekend ticket sales. While it didn’t surprise me to learn Fandango moved 10% of Star Wars Episode III tickets (it’s a geek crowd), the percent of Sex in the City sales is notable (as is the fact that people still patronize the multiplex). Though they seem slightly surprised to learn women are capable of utilizing web technology… “Internet ticket sales for Sex and the City have been nothing short of extraordinary for a female-driven picture,” says Rick Butler, Chief Operating Officer for Fandango. Wonder how many (how few) bought these via TiVo?

I was amazed we could get Indiana Jones tickets from Fandango during opening weekend mere hours before the Saturday night showing. Love Fandango.
ask yourself how many MEN you OpenTable?
I would think more men use OpenTable then women use Fandango…but what do I know…my girlfriend made me go see sex and the city and I did buy the tickets on Fandango(I probably shouldnt admit to this..)
I’ve used OpenTable about as frequently as I’ve used Fandango – maybe twice each?
I use Open Table quite a bit. Its way easier than having to look up numbers and call and deal with all that crap.
Sorta off topic, but I seriously thought Sex in the City would bomb. I thought that ship had sailed years ago. Shows how wrong I was. I guess I don’t know my middle-aged sex starved women demographics
I’ve been involved in some heavy negotiations this AM and I think we’ve reached an agreement – Iron Man this weekend, Sex in the City next weekend. Though I hope we’re not quite yet middle aged. Can’t recall the last movie I saw in a theater, Melissa thinks it was 300 over a year ago. (She’s seen more hanging out with her niece.)
