Beginning tomorrow, Skype will be made available for download on 9 Verizon Wireless phones – 6 Blackberry models, and 3 Android handsets. Interestingly, this isn’t the traditional Skype experience we’re used to. International calls are handled as you’d expect, being routed over the data network at reasonable Skype Credit rates. But domestic calling doesn’t seem to be included. Beyond Skype-to-Skype calls, which are actually routed over Verizon’s voice network. So if you’d like to save money on overseas calls, text SKYPE to 2255 and Verizon will let you know when and where you can download the VoIP app.

i’m pretty excited about this… when my gf travels abroad for work, we use skype everyday, but its always a pain to align calls across time zones. this will be very handy and let me be signed into skype all the time!
What about people with a N1 that is unlocked. Are we going to be able to get Skype too?
