With two A-list shooters landing within ten days of each other this fall, a choice had to be made. Having taken the Call of Duty multiplayer beta for a spin in August, I quite prefer it to last year’s edition… but quickly grew bored. I do appreciate the swiped Titanfall jetpacks and wallrunning, but it’s mostly the same old, same old. So I went ahead and cancelled my Black Ops III pre-order and moved onto Halo.
My UNSC Army enlistment is long and storied plus, despite my occasional CoD successes, I’ve generally experienced a higher “fun” quotient in the Halo universe. So, I headed on over to Amazon to pre-order Halo 5: Guardians… as I have zero desire to fight the crowds at Gamestop. And it turns out Amazon Prime members receive $10 off during checkout. Bonus!

Stupid thing is that the Digital Copy is full price. You can also preorder on the Microsoft Store and get a 10 credit. Again no, digital option for the same price, which is again, stupid. I have 2 XBox 1s and having a digital copy is more convenient, but I am not going to pay more and have less rights just to avoid moving the disc upstairs and downstairs.
Just think of it as a Microsoft fitness program? ;) (I’d rather have the disc. I’ll take a bath, but will inevitably flip it at Gamestop.)
Well, I have come to a couple of realizations and that is I never sell my games back in time anymore to get enough value that it’s worth it, so going digital doesn’t really hurt me in that regards. However, paying more upfront is pretty annoying.
Though I suppose it’s my own fault for wanting the game on launch. If you wait even a few months, AAA drop in price for the digital versions.
I wish they also had discounts for digital. But I refuse to uses discs for current gen. Everything is digital for me. I preordered both Halo5 and BLOPs3 on the XBOne. And am looking forward to both of them.
I never seem to get around to selling the discs used. I’ve gone digital with PS4, Xbone, and Wii U. You would think the savings from not having to press and ship a physical item would warrant a little discount, but alas, no.
