I don’t know what you did for lunch today, but I swung by Gamestop for what could be the biggest video game release ever. Against my better judgement, I’d pre-ordered Call of Duty: Black Ops. And my suspicions were confirmed as in-store availability looked good. But that $5 deposit was greatly rewarded with a $20 Halo Reach trade-in bonus (on top of the listed $25) bringing my total outlay to $10.74. (I’m a monogamous gamer — at my advanced age, the neurons just can’t juggle multiple titles.)
I had time for two quick Xbox Live multiplayer rounds before returning to work… which was long enough to marvel at the visuals. Wow. And apparently I’m at a disadvantage by not having picked up Black Ops last night at midnight and taking the day off, as I was the only matchmaking level 1 n00b — all others were 12 and above.
For those still stuck in the office and without the game, here are some Call of Duty Black Ops review s to whet your appetite:
Boo, you should have gotten in line with all the other males ages 14-45 last night. The BB in Sterling had a line around the side of the bldg.
I thought about it… Gamestop was having a “launch event” 9PM – Midnight last night. If they’d having given folks the game at 9PM, I would have gone. But I get up at 6:15AM and need to hoard my few remaining vacation days for CES. Guess I’m not a real fan. ;)
I do what I do on every lunch break… read ZNF. :)
I may have to swing by Gamestop tonight. I ordered from Amazon with release date delivery. I am in Florida and Fedex says it is still in TN.
I hadn’t planned on buying it right away until I did some reading yesterday and saw that I could play it in 3D on the 360. I had $10 in RewardZone and BB was giving another $10 post purchase for pre-ordering so I ordered it for store pickup last night. This is the first game I’ve bought since MW2. 3D is cool but hard on the eyes for too long. But alot of things are as I get older..
Oh man, thats awesome. I wish I had time to play games like that again. Seems we’ve only been breaking out the xbox for social rhythm games when people are over and want to rock out on plastic instruments and sing.
One day when things settle down, hopefully I can join in on some of these types of games. Have fun!!!
Glad you have time to do multiplayer! I just stick to single-player gaming during those rare moments I have time (PS3 and 360 still not hooked up after moving in April). So it’s Uncharted 1 & 2 all the way for me :)
