Terrible advice.
A few days is just long enough to get infected by the virus that gets written by hackers who reverse engineer the security fixes in the update.
It’s a tough call and hard to find the right balance. I’ve had newly released MS patches and McAfee DATs break things in the past. I’d say it’s pragmatic to wait a good 12-24 hours at least to see what happens on the message boards before applying any sort of update.
