Amazon announced a nice little software update for all Kindle (Global Wireless), Kindle (U.S. Wireless), and Kindle DX devices. Amazon says the firmware update improves Kindle battery life and adds a native PDF reader. As we near the arrival of the new Nook, Barnes & Noble’s eReader, I imagine these steps are being taken to help sway those thinking about purchasing an eBook reader to go with the Kindle. And it might just work… Especially since the Nook and the Sony readers will be difficult, if not impossible, to come by for Christmas purchases.

That picture gets me to chuckle ever time. Shelly’s should do all of my blog photos.
Shouldn’t the Kindle come with a rubber ducky? Listen, I don’t know what you changed but my Sage reader won’t pick up your subscription anymore in Firefox. Yes, I can get it in Google, but My morning coffee requires a quick scan thru my Sage Reader. Finding “XML Parse Error” now for three days running and no Dave&Co. Insights…well…ZatzNotFunny…..
Not sure what I did either. When I’m back in town, with a computer, next week I’ll investigate as you’re the second person not using Google Reader with issues. Could be a rogue plugin messing up the feed rendering. Are you pulling it from znf.com/feed or from feedburner.com?
Glad to see you posted it as a “Kindle 2” update – I have an original Kindle (aka Kindle 1?). I got all excited when I saw Amazon’s post about the firmware update for “all Kindle Wireless” – however, no update for us early buyers. I just hope that they don’t leave us out when they come out with the “folder support” update, we’ve been suggesting that since it first came out. No sour grapes here – I’m happy with my Kindle, and, still glad I bought it when it came out – I’ve gotten alot of time logged on it.
No doubt this update only exists due to the impending release of Nook.
i’m pulling it from

David, the issue should be resolved. I was one of the hacked Media Temple sites and the broken RSS feed was a symptom. MT was very helpful in resolving this, even making arrangements to call me at my German hotel.
Yes, all is well again thru my Sage Reader. Zatz very nice. Thank you (for all you do).
Short but nice article. In the beginning of the ebook reader era the amazon kindle was the leader. But now there are a lot upcoming brands like Sony, Barnes and Noble and others.
One of the reason why the kindle is still the leader is because it’s net connection works internationally. Also the new battery life is a huge improvement.
By the way I have also found a nice review of the kindle reader
I thought it was worth sharing
