Boxee Adds Netflix Support (and more)

Boxee has announced the latest release of their HTPC software and it’s packed with several new features, including Netflix Watch Now! This version is for the Mac and Linux public beta versions of Boxee. (The Windows edition of Boxee has begun early alpha testing and will soon open up to more participants.) Some of the notable inclusions in this update are:

  • Netflix (Mac only)
  • New Hulu with queue support, faster operation and improved playback
  • New YouTube with updated look and higher quality video playback
  • New CNN, Flickr, Picasa and Apple Movie Trailers – all rewritten to work faster and better
  • Integration with MTV Music – click on an album and you have the option to watch music videos of the artist
  • The WB – content streamed from The WB network
  • Lots of bug fixes

  1. Note that the new linux version isn’t out yet. It should be released in a couple of days. Also netflix doesn’t work on the appletv release either.
