Sony’s announced their PS3 PlayTV accessory will be available this September for 99 Euros (~$150 USD). PlayTV consists of dual DVB-T tuners, enabling both PS3 DVR functionality and placeshifting to the PSP. Last100 raises some pertinent questions: Can television be recorded during gameplay? Can PS3 hard drive capacity be increased? (40-80GB won’t hold much HD content…) Sony hasn’t revealed plans for an ATSC (or other) model in the US market… Unlike the UK Freeview phenomenon, I’m not sure how much demand we have here for a purely OTA-based DVR.

If it means placeshfting to PSP I’d take one here in the USA, lots of times it would be nice to pick up the news or whatever. Allthough if I ever get a maemo slingbox client (hint!) I’d not need such a thing.
The hard drive is simple. Its just a normal everyday ATA drive easy to change out. But there are rumors that sony is coming out with a bigger hard drive model this fall (160gb).
I second the maemo/android/linux desktop slingbox client. They have to all be able to share the same linux backend with just a slight change to the interfaces to knock out all three birds with one stone ;)
Whoa. Wait. You can do other stuff with a PS3 besides play Metal Gear Solid!?!?!?
P.S. GTA4 sold 6 million copies last week, for a total of half a billion dollars in retail sales. Iron Man in the same period? Only 207 million. Old Media, you better recognize!

I wonder if I’m the only one bored with GTA IV? The graphics are good and the story seems decent, but the actions are repetitive, the control and camera aren’t always great, and even after cranking the in-game brightness control things are often too dark. I sending it back to Gamefly shortly.
it’s relatively easy to swap out your 40GB drive for a $99 250GB drive or I’m betting you’ll be able to hook up a $120 500GB external drive via a USB port.
It seems that Sony is trying to position the PS3 and the controller for a home entertainment unit.I’m not sure how successful this strategy will be.
Cool, so we can have full home entertainment with one single ps3.
