Comcast is killing their Microsoft TV Foundation deployment in Washington State. Really it’s no surprise when you consider Motorola has partnered with Gemstar to produce and deliver GuideWorks DVR interface, plus Comcast has obviously invested a lot of time and money in bringing a TiVo solution to market. The only realistic place we’d next see Microsoft TV in the US is as a Xbox 360 IPTV solution on AT&T. But I wouldn’t hold your breath… U-verse seems to be doing just fine in rolling out Moto hardware.

Actually Moto doesn’t provide the software for set-top EPGs. Operators like Comcast can put anything they want on the boxes, and most often that means TV Guide. As for Follow Me TV, it’s Verizon using the Motorola solution, not AT&T. (AT&T does use Motorola IP set-tops) And even with Verizon, they’ve layered their own interface on top of the Motorola technology. There is a Follow Me TV software interface, but it is not deployed. Hmm… Makes you wonder about future plans, doesn’t it? :)
Fine, Mari – just blow apart my story. ;) I obviously misunderstood a previous conversation you and I had.
Man – Motorola acquired Ucentric some time back, and Ucentric produces STB software and UIs. They don’t use it?
