DISH Wally Headed To CES

As originally revealed, Echostar has been prepping an unsurprising Hopper 3… alongside the mysterious new DISH Wally. And, mere weeks ahead of CES, details have started to trickle out.

The single tuner Wally satellite receiver may be targeted towards small business, in addition to secondary rooms, and will run only $7/mo in rental fees. The non-DVR STB includes HEVC decoding capabilities, although it’s unknown if this is geared towards linear programming or the advertised raft of apps within its “brand-new user interface.” Given the available intel, we suspect Wally is the DISH 211 heir apparent sporting the Hopper UI.

  1. Screw Dish and their lease fees. I owned my 722 and 922 and they continued to charge me their overpriced lease fees. Dropped them and went Comcast. I truly own my Tivo Roamios and minis and Comcast only charges me 1.50 for a second cable card not to mention the owned equip credit. Oh and my bill is about 80 dollars lower with Internet. The only thing Dish was good for was distant nets i.e. NYC in HD before they were local OTA.

  2. Ccrn1970 you are obviously old or out of touch with the new wave of dish equipment. No cable company can compare with the new dvr hopper3 with 16 tuners meaning I can record 16 shows at once….cable and directv can suck it. That is all.
