Xbox One Going Windows 10, Getting Background Music

Given Microsoft’s strategy to deploy Windows 10 across all computing devices, including computers and smartphones, I guess it’s not entirely surprising they intend to similarly unify the Xbox OneĀ onto the platform later this year. Whether or not this translates into a less crazy user interface remains to be seen, but it does seem highly likely that background music streaming will be one compelling benefit of migrating to the new operating system. It’s a feature I’m surprised we haven’t seen more – and something I periodically haveĀ appreciated from the WDTV PlayĀ and Amazon Fire TV.

Speaking of appreciation, I’ve been using Windows 10 as my primary desktop OS these last few months, and I quite like what I see (despite that power button relocating with every build). In fact, I even migrated my wife’s laptop from Win 8 to the beta channel of Win 10 – as the massive UI improvements outweigh the (expected)Ā pre-release bugs andĀ issues.

  1. Well I’m not buying xbox one until they allow us to have custom soundtrack! My daugher has xbox one and its amazing. I even gave her the seagate 2TB external Harddrive for hers.

  2. Background audio *should* also allow them to do custom soundtracks. I would be surprised if they didn’t add that shortly after the Windows 10-based Xbox OS comes out.

  3. I’m looking forward to Win10. I’ve loved using Win8 and they seem to improve each version that I’ve used. Although I don’t mess with teh Betas any more like I used to in the old days.

  4. Sorry – that was blog spam my system and I both missed. Yet, the system does provide very good results in catching Chucky’s posts. ;)

I previously thought about posting a comment exactly along those lines, but it seemed too much like shooting fish in a barrel…
