Logitech’s Touch Mouse App is Cute, But…

Logitech’s new Touch Mouse iPhone app (above left) is a cute bit of marketing, but power users can do better. Touch Mouse, in conjunction with PC or Mac server software, allows you to use your iPhone as a remote touchpad (à la GlideTV) and keyboard. For basic control and a cost of zero dollars, it’ll probably serve many well – as long as you keep your expectations for future development in check.

But, as I learned over at A VC early last month, there’s at least one super-powered iPhone alternative available for a mere $2. Mobile Air Mouse Pro (above right) is a remote touchpad and keyboard… and so much more. The video below steps through many of Mobile Air Mouse Pro’s various features. Combined with a Ceton-infused HTPC, I can’t help but imagine the possibilities.

  1. can we get some storm2 love for some apps like this? i took a look on blackberry app world and there was only one app, it doesnt look that great and costs 6.99, looks to be windows only…

  2. if you want the same functionality but from a dedicated remote, I’d highly suggest the unisen-usa.com ipazzport. its got the full qwerty, touch pad and backlighting just like any phone and it is about the same size as well. Its cool to have the apps and all that, but from a functionality standpoint, a dedicated remote is better in my opinion…and one that is handheld beats out a full wireless keyboard and mouse.
    Thanks

  3. I’ve used MAMP since it was just MAM, and it works REALLY great and fast. The footprint on both the client and host is minimal, and the feature set it GREAT. Really great for slingbox streaming, working out on the treadmill with the laptop on the shelf above, browsing between applications, volume settings, etc.

And there are custom settings one can setup to say, launch and DO something, or funky things like CLEAR on a slingbox remote but when you dont want to OPEN the remote and do all the tricks.

really great app, usually ends up on sale every once in a while for 99$, but even at 1.99$ it is a steal.

I neither work nor consult for MAMP, I just love their product and fine it very useful!
