Tech On TV: Ghost Whisperer

Once again, I’m swiping inspired by Engadget’s Screen Grabs series to cover an interesting mix of tech on TV. I’ve never seen Ghost Whisperer and don’t know what it’s about beyond the title. However, I was on a call with the television playing in the background when the relatively ancient XM SkyFi and boombox (upper left) caught my eye. Also, I was surprised to see a MacBook Pro in this scene… with a sticker hiding Apple’s iconic logo. On the other end of Jennifer Love Hewitt‘s flip phone conversation appears to be a Palm Treo 750 (Windows Mobile) – which was my primary handset for about 6 months in 2007.

  1. I noticed on NCIS the on agent (McGee) uses a 1st gen Iphone ( Still after the 3g came out). But if you want to see alot of tech placement watch Big Bang Theory.

  2. Hatter, I still use a first gen iPhone… What’s wrong with that? ;) (Love my $20 data plan w/ 200 text messages. And when I pop the SIM into my 3G phones, I get 3G data.) I assume Apple doesn’t pay for product placement, but it’s likely for many other manufacturers.

  3. Ghost Whisperer… I always wondered if that show is any good.

BTW, The Big Bang Theory features one MBP and a pair of Dell’s – “girly” pink Inspiron and “hardcore” XPS (17″, I’d guess). And Big Bang’s WoW episode was probably better than South Park’s :)

  4. I second Glenn’s opinion.
And, unfortunately I’ve had to watch Ghost Whisperer. All you need to know is that the camera hearts Jennifer Love Hewitt’s…. I’ll leave it at that.

  5. i don’t think that’s a Macbook Pro with a sticker on.. if you see S04E03, you can see the keyboard design of that computer, and it’s definitely not that of Macbook’s… Wonder what that notebook is.
