After several months in both private and then public beta testing, SageTV 6 has just been released. Some highlights of the new version include:

  • Browse, search, and play Google Video

  • Easier video conversion for portables (iPod, PSP, etc) or storage

Mac SlingPlayer Beta Updated

Six weeks after releasing the public beta of Mac OS X SlingPlayer, Sling Media has taken the wraps off an updated client (build .128) containing numerous bug fixes, support for 10.3.9 (as shown above powering my TiVo Series3), and a slightly improved Mac look (though we still have a ways to go). TiVoToGo On Your Mac

Want TiVoToGo on your Mac? Nearly two years after being released, TiVo, Inc may have failed to deliver but the hacker community has heeded our call. I’m not one to stand on ceremony, but shouldn’t there at least have been a welcome to everyone? I did get some gratification, however. After announcing my status as official … Read more

ZNF Does TechCrunch NYC, Part 1

I spent a short and sweaty evening at TechCrunch New York tonight. (Which will be last night by the time this gets posted.) The venue was hot, loud and not at all ideal for showing off Web apps. Ever been to a bar in Manhattan? Add small tables with placards and laptop displays and you … Read more

What Are Apple’s Windows Ambitions?

Kevin over at jkOnTheRun wonders why point upgrades on iTunes, such as Tuesday’s 7.0.2 build, require a total application reinstall rather than a patch. Now that’s a pretty good question, but one that doesn’t interest me so much. The questions that do interest me involve Apple’s new Software Update Utility which was released in conjunction … Read more
