It’s like the 1960s all over again. Okay not really, but there are a couple of left-leaning trends in the tech world these days. First, as seen in the graphic above, tech companies are contributing more to Democrats this year than Republicans. John Chambers may be stumping for McCain, but it looks like Cisco as a whole is betting on bigger clout from the blue party.
Then there’s the green trend. When tech companies aren’t going red to support the AIDS cause, they’re going green to show how much they care about the Earth. Possibly the most obvious sign of this trend is the upsurge in green tech journalism. First there was GigaOmniMedia’s Earth2Tech, and then just this week the GreenTechMedia site launched. Wonder if Al Gore has a TV network waiting in the wings.
He already has one. http://www.current.tv
I mean a TV network dedicated to environmental issues…
Yeah, Current isn’t exactly specific, although it is attempting to be all things to all progressives. It’s like the DNC was in charge of MTV, only…faster.
Maybe we’re all in for ICTN: The Inconvenient Truth Network. Which won’t contain any. :)
