A few months after announcing plans to launch a subscription-based music streaming and download service for mobile devices, MOG is now available for iOS and Android. The MOG app is available as a free download for each platform, and new users get a 3 day free trial of the service, after which the prices is $9.99 per month.
So what do you get for your money? Access to more than 8-million songs which you can play on-demand. MOG lets you enter the name of a song or artist and start playing it almost instantly. If you want to listen to your music when you’re on an airplane or in another situation where you may not have internet access, you can download tracks to your device — although they’ll stop playing if you stop paying.
Unlike free streaming radio apps such as Pandora, MOG will let you create “artist-only radio stations.” Read the rest of this entry »
So many of these now… Rhapsody, Spotify, Rdio, MOG, Slacker On Demand is coming. I assume iTunes Online will debut at some point too. I like the artist playlist of MOG, otherwise it’s more of the same. Except when it’s less (artists).
I’ve been trying this all day, especially downloading of albums. I’m very tempted, but I agree with Dave that there’s a lot of these out there with different flavors to choose from.
What do you think of the $10/mo price point? Is this where others are going to be as well? What about a potential Google Music service, is that a real possibility?
Rdio and Rhapsody are $10/mo as well. Seems like that’s what it’s going to be to cover their licensing agerements. Random streaming like Pandora and traditional Slacker will always be cheaper is my guess. Generally speaking, I prefer someone building the playlist for me anyhow.
Mobile Music apps seem to be all the rage at the moment. Have a look at this one, ‘Mobile Backstage’ – http://www.mobilebackstage.com/ It allows artists to engage with their fans in ways never achieved before – seems fairly useful!
