How Massive Is CES?

To give you a sense of CES scale, I shot two minutes of video while trying to make my way through Samsung’s booth. Granted, their footprint is massive, surely one of the largest at the show. But this is just one booth of hundreds. Samsung’s presence, while mammoth, was tasteful and well spaced. Plus, the music and displays elicit a 1980s EPCOT sense of wonder and amazement.

As far as actual attendance figures go, the Consumer Electronics Association has been trying to dial down CES to make it more accessible. (And trust me, the time wasted in Vegas waiting for transportation and stuck in traffic takes away from the experience.) However, attendance plummeted in 2009 as the economy imploded (leading to an awesome room rate at the Wynn). But we seem to be back in track in 2011:

CEA president Gary Shapiro began the festivities by announcing that attendance at this week’s show for the first two days was 132,191, higher than the 2010 show’s first two days of 112,515

  1. You’ve created the Samsung Experience Experience.

    Two points:

    1) You should have shot it in 3D.

    2) It’d make a fine ride at DisneyWorld.

  2. Monster Cable should bribe CEA to become an exclusive cabling partner of CES. Can you imagine how much money they’d make? ;)
