It’s a bit strange to be running our third Chumby-related CES post, but as I was cruising off the show floor at I ran into Sony’s revised Dash widget station. As discussed earlier this week, the new models are due mid year and the higher tier unit features enclosures in multiple colors and the oft requested rechargeable battery.
First off, the exterior of the new Dash units are much refined and feel higher quality. And while I didn’t actually have time to pull up any audio apps, the back features a rather large speaker grill. Unfortunately, in this pre-production model, the screen didn’t seem much more responsive. But, hopefully, that’s something Sony will continue to work on prior to release. Lastly, I pulled the plug to see how the integrated battery would work… and was met with a black screen. Turns out these demo models aren’t fully equipped.
