Two Notes On The Kindle Price Drop

Hot on the heels of Barnes & Noble’s 3G Nook price drop (and new WiFi-only model) yesterday, Amazon responded with a reduction of their own…. coming in lower by $10. ($189 versus $199) But you already knew that. What you might not have known is that Amazon has also gone ahead and lowered refurbished Kindles to $170. Not a bad deal at all, considering this product ran $259 (new) a mere 36 hours ago. Not quite as low as I’d like for this relatively new segment, but it’s now probably time to get Mom on board.

Now, for those folks who recently picked up a Kindle at a higher price… An alert ZNF reader called into Amazon today exploring the various remedies. He was told anyone who had purchased a Kindle from 5/21 – 6/21 would be credited the difference – presumably only if they contact support, as he did. However, as he was somewhat outside that window, Amazon kindly issued a $50 store credit to ease his pain.
