Intuit has released the latest version of its SnapTax mobile tax preparation app for iOS, along with the first version for Android. SnapTax is available as a free download for each platform, although you’ll have to pay $14.99 when you actually want to file your tax return. That price is good through March 25th, after which the fee will likely go up to $19.99.
Here’s how the apps work. You take a picture of your W-2 forms with your phone’s camera, answer some questions, and then preview and file your forms.
I highly recommend downloading the free app before spending any money though, as SnapTax is only designed for relatively simple returns. Read the rest of this entry »
