If you liked Dash, check out Waze. (iPhone)

If you bought into the Dash Navigation concept, as I did, and happen to own an iPhone, you’re going to want to check out Waze 2.0 – which Gizmodo brought to my attention.

The free GPS app provides much more than turn-by-turn navigation, by crowd sourcing live traffic and map corrections along with social game-playing elements. While things didn’t quite work out the way we had hoped at Dash, Waze is carrying this torch. Heck, they’re more like Dash 3.0 at this point. Unfortunately, like Dash, the core navigation could still use a little work… as Waze was unable to find my weekend Calvert Cliffs destination by address and, in some cases, initial routing experiences haven’t matched the Telenav service I also use. But these guys are off to a great start and I dig what they’re doing.

  1. Waze was fun before Google Navigation came out. I used to like to find roads for the first time; like real life pac man. Haven’t thought about installing it again though, GNav is too tight.

  2. I tried it maybe a couple years ago, but the func just wasn’t there. I’ll checkout the new version.
