Google Formally Introduces Android 2.2 (Froyo)

Google has officially unveiled the next generation of its Android operating system for mobile devices today at the Google I/O developer conference. The SDK is available for developers today, and Google says Android 2.2 Froyo will be available to OEMs in the next few weeks.

  1. Hi Brad,

Have you heard anything on Android phones for AT&T that a) will run a 2.x version of Android and b) won’t be locked down to run only apps from the Marketplace? I’m tied to AT&T until my wife’s phone contract runs out in December, but if a good phone came along, I’d be fine staying with them.
