TiVo Unveils $50 Premium ‘Glo’ Remote

tivo-glo-remote.gifTiVo.com has begun selling the Series3 remote as a $49.99 accessory. Not only does the remote control the S3, most Series2 units are supported as well. One slight difference over the bundled S3 unit: instead of a silver perimeter, this sports a chrome rim.

TiVo’s remote control designer points out enhancements versus the standard Series2 model:

  • Fully backlit keys.
  • Learning capability.
  • Metal domed keys provide crisp, tactile feedback.
  • Improved ergonomics and feel.
  • Bigger navigation pad with the Select key in the center.
  • Glossy, high-end look.

  1. I’ve been thinking about it and have decided Glo is a pretty cheesy name for a sexy high end remote like this. I suggest renaming it TiVo Pro Remote or something like that. It would be nice if the name conveyed the backlight feature, but Glo doesn’t work for me.

  2. The name makes me think of “Mop and Glo” floor wax.

Though I’m already drowning in remotes. I certainly don’t need another.

  3. any away to verify the remote claim? There isn’t any mention of it on tivo’s site or roxios (which it directs you to when you want to buy it). I’ve just purchased it and no mention on the check out about remote. They do through in a $20 rebate making it $80.
