This Smart TV Costs Less Than Some Streamers

While I wouldn’t recommend a 32″ 720 set as your primary television, they make great additions to the kitchen or a guest bedroom – where I have rocked a similarly specced pair of TCL Rokus. And today the Best Buy Insignia Fire TV is on sale for a low $99.99. Which is significantly less than some streaming boxes, like NVIDIA Shield TV and Apple TV.

I’m currently running a somewhat equivalent 43″ 4K Insignia Fire Television in our basement den. It’s surprisingly good, despite the low price, particularly when used in conjunction with the bundled Alexa voice remote. In fact. beyond television duties, my daughter and I often call up Amazon Music through the TV while playing with her toys: “Alexa, play Moana soundtrack.” So it’s your TV, your streamer, and your Echo Dot. Making the above a pretty great deal for less than a hundred bucks.

  1. Guess they ran out of however many they allocated at $99.99. The current price is now $119.99… which isn’t a bad deal, but it’s obviously not quite as compelling.

  2. Wow!! It’s crazy how cheap TVs are now. The last 1080P set I purchased was in 2012. A 47″ or 49″ LG. And it was around $600. which was a good price back then. But I see Amazon has their UHD/HDR 50″ TV for only $250.

I would never buy another 1080P set, let alone a 720P set. Not when for a little more you can go from 720P to 2160P. Their 43″ UHD/HDR set is only $200.

Only in America and concerning televisions nowadays would we say that a 32″ LCD SmartTV at $119.99 is “not quite as compelling.” ;)

  4. I bought the 50” 4K Insignia Fire at BestBuy last month, before Easter, for the stupid sale price of $250. It’s hanging in my man-cave/shop in my garage. Is the picture as good as the 55” LG in my living room? No.. but it’s not awful.. and it’s IN MY GARAGE. I’ve got it hooked to an old Sony Bluray, a 5.1 Yamaha sound system via HDMI/ARC, and I’m using the Tablo Premiere app for DVR access, along with the Hulu Live, Netflix, etc in an integrated package. The apps on that set will likely be more up to date in the future than their WebOS counterparts on the LG. It’s not a bad experience, and a heckuva a value.
