Redbox-Verizon Streaming Initiative Now Hiring

While we’re still a few months away from launch, the Redbox-Verizon collaboration intended to take on Netflix video streaming is seriously ramping up staffing — with the companies advertisingĀ several dozen job openingsĀ in multiple states:

The Verizon-Redbox JV brings together two innovative companies known for creating brands that customers trust and products consumers want. With immediate DVD and Blu-ray rental through Redbox and instant broadband content from Verizon, weā€™ll be uniquely positioned to deliver the best of both worlds ā€“ physical and digital ā€“ to all consumers nationwide. Weā€™ll make it easy for everyone to access and enjoy the entertainment they want to see, using any providersā€™ mobile or home broadband service ā€“ anytime, anywhere. Working at the Verizon-Redbox Joint Venture means you can enjoy the freedom and creativity of a start-up business with the resources of two recognized, established companies

Additionally, asĀ deployment approaches, Fierce Wireless has uncoveredĀ a new Redbox logo trademark (above left).

Of course that looks a lot like an iOS app icon and the description appears to cover both traditional Redbox kiosk services in addition to the upcoming streaming service:

Video-on-demand transmission services, video broadcasting, transmission services, transmission of voice, data, images, data signals, messages and information by electronic communication networks

As to the service’s ultimate branding, both Redbox Now and Redbox Instant have been registered with the USPTOĀ and are likely candidates. We don’t know yet how the upcoming service will be structured or priced, but BTIG Research has some ideasĀ as to the sort of movie content we might expect this fall.
