Most Anticipated Fall Video Games

Below are the fall 2008 video game releases that I’m most looking forward to:

• Max Payne 3 – Only Rumoured, but the Mark Walberg movie comes out Oct 17. Max Payne 1 and 2 were two of my all-time favourite games. (Oct 17?)
• LittleBigPlanet (PS3) – Who isn’t looking forward to this one? (Oct 21)
• Resistance 2 (PS3) – I enjoyed Resistance 1 much more than I expected. (Nov 4)
• Gears of War 2 (360)– What’s not to love? Can’t have too many COGs. (Nov 7)
• Mirror’s Edge – Looks like pure platforming fun like Crackdown was. (Nov 11)
• Tomb Raider: Underworld – I hope they finally get frame rate issues resolved, every Tomb Raider to date has made me nauseous within a half hour. (Nov 18)
• Prince of Persia 2008 – This one is looking like its getting back to its excellent PoP: Sands of Time roots. I wasn’t a fan of the intervening PoPs. (Dec 2)

  1. So many great games coming out this fall. I pre-ordered COD -WAW and Far Cry 2, for the PC. I’m on the fence with Fallout 3.

  2. I played a little bit of LittleBigPlanet (beta) and I don’t get it. I hope CoD-WaW can live up to CoD4. The Dead Space visuals look real good. As for the others, I’ll wait for the reviews to come in (and I’m still renting most of my games via Gamefly).

  5. I too rent most of my games Dave. Though its partly due to the fact that at my age its hard to find friends willing to play online to make an extended purchase worth while.

    Given the Job Treyarch did on CoD3, I’m extremely hesitant aoubt CoD5. I’m definately NOT going to purchase CoD5 (though I may rent it) unless they’ve substantially increased their quality.

  6. I rent because I have a limited attention span and something like Drake’s Fortune I can knock out in a week anyway. Activision just sent me a beta code for CoD WaW – but it’s Xbox-only. I’m thinking of trading my PS3 in and getting an Xbox (again). Unless I need both. Hm.

  7. Really? The CoD WaW beta is for Xbox only. Bastards.

    I gave the dude at Gamestop my email and haven’t seen anything yet.

  8. Yeah, it’s Xbox only now and PC later. The documentation says they won’t be running a PS3 beta. I got my code by registering on their website a month or three ago I’m guessing, because I didn’t preorder. And I did just pick up (another) Xbox 360. Man, I should have left well enough alone. Live and learn.

Hey, if that COD5 is just collecting dust, you know my address! :) Given your status Dave you need both devices as they are two key consumer devices that are very much related to the theme of ZNF. Plus, all the fun is on the 360 (with only the occasional exclusive like Drakes Fortune for the PS3 – but it still doesn’t justify the frack’n $800 I spent on my PS3 – grrr – it mostly just collects dust). Heck, I use my Apple TV 10 times as much as I use my PS3.

  10. I don’t get into FPS’s much. I’m looking forward to LBP (PS3), Mushroom Men (Wii), Mirror’s Edge (PS3), & Tomb Raider: Underworld (PS3).
